We are pleased to announce the outline of the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists (JSPP). This will be the first annual meeting to be held in Kyoto in 15 years since the 2012 meeting held at Kyoto Sangyo University. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our members affiliated with the Faculty of Agriculture at Ryukoku University, the upcoming meeting will take place at the university’s Fukakusa Campus. Located in the southern area of the historical city of Kyoto, the Fukakusa Campus features a beautiful environment. It offers excellent access via the Keihan Electric Railway, the JR Nara Line and the Kyoto Municipal Subway. Famous tourist spots, such as the Fushimi Inari Shrine, are also within walking distance. We look forward to active research presentations, fruitful discussions, and vibrant exchanges in this wonderful setting.

The Kyoto Annual Meeting will be held in a hybrid format combining on-site presentations and online participation.

We cordially invite as many members as possible to attend.

Chairperson of the Annual Meeting Committee

06. Symposium

The call for symposium proposals according to the following policy is open until August 28, 2026.

  • Symposium proposals will be solicited from JSPP members.
  • In principle, symposium presentations should be given in English.
  • Symposia will be allocated three-hour slots, scheduled for either in the morning or afternoon during the Annual Meeting (except for the afternoon of Day 2).
  • Symposia may be conducted either on-site or online. A combination of on-site and online presentations is also possible.
  • Only LCD projectors will be available for symposia.
  • JSPP plans to provide financial support (up to 500,000 yen per symposium for several selected symposia) to facilitate the invitation of overseas speakers. Symposia co-sponsored by other organizations, however, are not eligible for this support. Recipients of financial support will be required to submit a brief report for publication in the Annual Meeting newsletter after the meeting.
  • To propose a symposium, please submit the application form via email to the Annual Meeting Committee Secretariat (jspp2027@nacos.com) by August 28, 2026.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email within one week, please contact the Secretariat.
  • For symposia co-sponsored with other organizations, the co-sponsorship fee (200,000 yen) applies.
  • We plan to hold about 12 symposia this year. If applications exceed this number, the Annual Meeting Committee will make the final selection. We highly encourage innovative proposals from young researchers and interdisciplinary fusion topics.
  • For both symposia and general presentations (oral/poster), each presenter is limited to one presentation. Please ensure you obtain the presenter’s consent before submitting a symposium proposal.
  • The Annual Meeting will not cover travel expenses or honorarium for non-member speakers. Speakers are requested to register and submit their abstracts individually.
  • We highly value gender diversity and actively encourage organizers to consider gender balance when selecting speakers to ensure a diverse lineup. Organizers of all backgrounds and genders are welcome.
