2nd Announcement of the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists
The 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists (Kyoto Meeting) will be held in a hybrid format, focusing on on-site presentations at the Fukakusa Campus of Ryukoku University, with the option to participate online. We hope that many members, not only from JSPP but also from Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists (TSPB), American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) and Korean Society of Plant Biologists (KSPB) will participate to build and deepen new professional connections. Below is the current information regarding registration and presentation submission methods. The Annual Meeting Committee looks forward to your participation.

Key Changes for the 68th Annual Meeting
No Online Posting of Posters
To ensure confidentiality and reduce the workload for both presenters and organizers, presenters will not be asked to upload poster files in advance, and the files will not be made available online.
Online Streaming of the JSPP Award Ceremony and Lectures
The JSPP Award Ceremony and Lectures are scheduled to be streamed online, in addition to being available for viewing at satellite venues within the annual meeting site.
Mixer
Date and Time: March 6 (Sat), Evening
Drinks will be available starting in the latter part of the first poster session, giving participants a chance to socialize and network in a relaxed atmosphere.
Workshops
Date and Time: March 7 (Sun), Afternoon
Based on proposals from JSPP members, these workshops will primarily introduce useful techniques and cover topics that are helpful in research work.

Any submissions or registrations will not be accepted after the deadlines. If you miss the advance registration deadline, please register on-site at the meeting.

When preparing figures and tables for your presentation, please consider Color Universal Design.
1) General presentations
1. Qualification of presenters
In accordance with JSPP Article 7(3), the presenters of the Annual Meeting must be JSPP members. If you are a presenter who is in the process of enrollment, please complete the procedure and the payment of the membership fee before the Annual Meeting; otherwise, your presentation will be canceled.
In addition to JSPP members, the members of the Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists (TSPB), the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) and the Korean Society of Plant Biologists (KSPB) will give a presentation at the annual meeting.
2. Style of presentation
Presentation language in the Annual Meeting is Japanese or English. The type of presentation (poster or oral presentation) is decided by the program committee to meet the requests at the time of application. Please make sure to confirm the type of presentation through the program before proceeding with your preparations.
3. Poster presentations
Posters should be prepared in English. If the presentation language is Japanese, please include the Japanese version of the title. Poster presentations will be held on-site only (Presenters should attend on-site. Online presentation is not available).
The PCP Poster Award will be presented this year. The award recipients will be selected from among PhD student presenters who apply for the award, based on evaluations conducted by the Plant and Cell Physiology (PCP) editors, including those visiting Japan for the conference.
- Eligibility for the PCP Poster Award is limited to “students enrolled in a doctoral program at the time of application.”
- Students wishing to apply for the PCP Poster Award should indicate their intention when registering their presentation title.
- Please select “Poster presentation” as your presentation format at the time of submission.
- Please note that all communications regarding the PCP Poster Award will be sent to the email address provided during registration.
- During the poster session, the judges will visit the applicants’ posters for evaluation. Both the presentation and the Q&A session will be conducted in English.
- The judging will take place during the first day of the poster session. Applicants for the PCP Poster Award must participate in the presentation on the first day of the meeting (March 6).
- The PCP awardees will be announced in the Award Ceremony on Sunday, March 7.
4. Oral presentations
Slides used in oral presentations should be in English. Prepare a brief summary slide in English as the last slide.
Each presentation is allotted a 15-min slot, a talk for 12 min and discussion for 2 min 30 s, followed by a 30 s interval before the next speaker. To keep the session on schedule, please strictly follow the time limits.
Oral presentations can be given on-site or online. Please choose on-site or online when submitting abstract. You cannot present online without prior application. For those who choose to present online, please be aware that there may be disruptions to your presentation due to the venue's internet environment.
2) Symposium presentations
Symposium speakers are not required to be JSPP members. The procedures for symposium presentations are the same as those for oral presentations except for the presentation time slots. Please ask the organizers of your symposium for details.
05. Symposia
Ten symposia are scheduled. The details of the symposia will be given later on the website of JSPP Annual Meeting. All symposium speakers will be selected and invited by the symposium organizers. Please note that a symposium speaker cannot give an oral or poster presentation

06.Banquet
The banquet will be held on the evening of March 7 (Sun) at Hotel Okura Kyoto (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto). The venue is about 30 minutes away by public transport from Ryukoku University. For administrative preparations, please register in advance if you plan to attend.
07. Registration for Participation and Presentations
1) Presenters
Anyone who wants to present a paper (oral, poster or symposium presentations), should register for attendance and submit your presentation title together with abstract by November 24, 2026, 24:00 (Japan Standard Time) through the online system. The list of categories (for oral or poster presentation) is attached as a PDF file.
The abstract should not exceed 1,200 characters including spaces. Figures and tables should not be placed in the abstract. Applications for presentations will not be accepted after the deadline. The program of the meeting will be placed on the website in Late December 2026.
2) Non-Presenters
Registration is required for all attendees. We recommend early bird registration through the online system by January 25, 2027, 24:00 (Japan Standard Time). Please register on-site if early bird registration is missed.

* The availability of on-site registration of banquet will be announced later on the website and the next Gakkai Tsushin Newsletter (in Japanese), which will be published in February.
** Invited speakers who are not JSPP members (including members of TSPB, ASPB and KSPB) should register as "Non-member symposium speaker." Non-member symposium speakers are exempt from registration fee, but banquet fee is required. Symposium abstract should be submitted on-line by November 24, 2026.
The registration fee should be paid on-line by credit card or sent by postal giro transfer (Postal account No. 00940-0-326705, domestic transaction only) by November 24, 2026 if you are presenting a paper, by January 25, 2027 if you are attending but not presenting paper.
The payment will not be refunded even if the registration is cancelled.
09. Name Badges
Domestic participants who complete payment and registration by January 25, 2027 will receive their badges by mail in late February. Overseas participants will receive theirs at the on-site registration desk.
10. Nursery Room
A nursery room for infants and elementary school children will be available at Ryukoku University Fukakusa Campus. Please pre-register for nursery services during online registration. Pre-registration deadline is November 24, 2026. Official application forms will be emailed to pre-registrants.
11. Accommodation
Please book accommodations early, as prices may rise significantly closer to the event dates.
