Regulations for the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists Outstanding Contribution Award Committee and Award Selection
Enacted on February 21, 2015
These regulations provide the procedures for the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists Outstanding Contribution Award Committee and the Award Selection stipulated in Article 20 of the Bylaws.
The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists (hereafter referred to as “JSPP”) can award the JSPP Outstanding Contribution Award (hereafter referred to as the “Contribution Award”) to JSPP regular members, honorary members, or lifetime members who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of plant science and the development of the JSPP. Awardees must have been a member of the JSPP for at least 25 years in total.
Awardees shall be selected by the JSPP Outstanding Contribution Award Committee (hereafter referred to as the “Award Committee”), which is organized by a resolution of the Board of Directors. The Award Committee shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the President. The member’s term of office shall be one (1) year and the Chairperson shall be selected from within the Award Committee.
The Award Committee shall request the Delegates to nominate award candidates by the designated date of the fiscal year. The Award Committee shall then select the final candidates from among those nominated and report the selection result to the President by the designated date of the fiscal year. The Award Committee shall select about two candidates. However, this does not preclude the possibility of no candidates being selected for the year.
The President shall notify the selection result to the Directors, and awardees shall be determined by a resolution of the Board of Directors, for which e-mail votes shall be accepted. Directors who have been nominated for the Contribution Award shall not have voting rights. Based on the voting results, the President shall decide the awardees by the middle of December of the fiscal year.
Awardees shall be presented with an honorary certificate and commemorative gifts at the award ceremony of the JSPP Annual Meeting. Awardees resident in Japan shall be asked to give an award lecture at the Annual Meeting.
These regulations shall take effect in the 2015 fiscal year.
