************************************************
In response to the outbreak of the new coronavirus (COVID -19) infection, The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists has been conducting case studies since early February, concerning various possibilities.

Since then, the first report was posted on the annual meeting website and twitter on 18th of February, and the second report was posted on the annual meeting website and twitter on 21st of February. However, we would like to inform you that the Emergency Response Committee and the Annual Meeting Committee concluded that the cancellation of the 61st Annual Meeting of The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists in Osaka was unavoidable due to the drastic change in the social situation in Japan and overseas during the last few days.

The annual meeting is an important opportunity for The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists to discuss each other’s research and collaborate, but we cannot risk the health and safety of its members.

It is extremely regrettable considering the efforts of the members who have been conducting research for the presentation and annual meeting related members who have been supporting the Osaka Annual Meeting over the past two years.
We would like to ask for your understanding on this decision.

The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists recognizes the annual meeting as being held, upon disclosure of the abstract, but we will contact you again for further details.
