Two postdoctoral positions are available to study the genes involved in plant resistance and fungal pathogenicity that are functional at specific growth and infection stages of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. This position offers an exciting opportunity involving molecular genetics and biochemical analysis of pathogen infection process and defense responses in Arabidopsis and Canola plants. Experience in molecular plant pathology is an advantage but not required. It is more important that you are highly-motivated and ready to develop the research project.
Qualifications:
Required:
A Ph.D. degree in plant pathology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline along with hands-on experience in plant molecular genetics, genomics, and biochemistry at the time of hire.
Applicants should have excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to successfully contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary work environment.
Preferred:
A solid track record of academic and research achievement with a strong and apparent background in molecular genetics and biochemistry.
Substantial experience with transcriptomics and bioinformatics and/or documented experience with gene knockout and complementation is preferred.
Experience with Sclerotinia biology would be helpful, but not essential.
Availability: The position is available July 15, 2023 at the earliest, and is a 12 month full-time position. Initial appointment is for one year and is renewable dependent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes medical benefits.
How to apply: Visit https://wsu.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-us/wsu_jobs and apply for the position of R-9612. Be prepared to submit (1) a current CV, (2) a cover letter explaining your interest in this opportunity, the specific skills and knowledge you would contribute, and what your career goals are, and (3) contact information for three references.
