The College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences at Washington State University seeks a postdoctoral research associate to study plant innate immune sensing of danger signals during plant-pathogen interactions in the Tanaka lab. This position offers an exciting opportunity involving molecular genetics and biochemical analysis of defense responses associated with damaged-self recognition systems (e.g., extracellular ATP signaling) in Arabidopsis. Experience in plant pathology is an advantage but not required. It is more important that you are highly-motivated and ready to develop the research project.



Qualifications: Required: A Ph.D. degree in plant pathology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline along with hands-on experience in plant molecular genetics, genomics, and biochemistry at the time of hire. Applicants should have excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to successfully contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary work environment. Preferred: A solid track record of academic and research achievement with a strong and apparent background in molecular genetics and biochemistry. Experience with receptor biology would be helpful, but not essential.



Availability: The position is available February 1, 2016, and is a temporary, 12 month, full-time position. Initial appointment is for one year and may be renewable dependent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes medical benefits.
