"Plant Physiology - the Next Half Century"

The members of the Board of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists are pleased to announce that the 50th Annual Meeting of the society will be held on the Higashiyama Campus of Nagoya University from March 21st to 24th, 2009.

The developing field of plant physiology has provided the basis for a deeper and ever-increasing understanding of plant systems that is essential for the production of high-quality food in large quantities for the world's expanding population while, at the same time, preserving the environment and solving environmental problems. The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists was founded in 1959 and has grown into a thriving and influential organization thanks to the efforts of its members and the high quality of their research.

As we prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the society, we are also looking ahead to the next 50 years with optimism and excitement.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 50th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists, which will include an international symposium at which, true to the traditions of the society, we shall share exciting new results and participate in stimulating discussions.
