Invitation to the 50th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists

You are cordially invited to the 50th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Plant Physiologists, JSPP, to be held March 21-24, 2009, in Nagoya. The meeting will cover many exciting subjects in the field of plant biology.

1. Date

Saturday, March 21 through Tuesday, March 24, 2009

2. Venue

Higashiyama Campus of Nagoya University (Furo-cho, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya 464-8601 JAPAN)

3. Presentations

Membership of JSPP is a requirement for presentation. Each member may present a paper in one of the sessions during the meeting. Japanese or English may be used in the presentations and discussion. Registration instructions for scientists interested in attending or presenting can be found below. If you are not a JSPP member at the present time, please plan to become a member for 2009. Applicants may fill out an application form, which is attached to this homepage, and send it to the JSPP office.

3-1. Oral presentations

The oral presentations are limited to 15 minutes, including the discussion time. All session rooms have LCD projectors that are to be operated by the presenters or their colleagues. Chairs may interpret as needed at question and answer time.

3-2. Poster presentations

The poster presentations are also acceptable. The poster presenters must be in attendance for the scheduled poster session.

4. Symposia

Fourteen symposia are scheduled. The details of the symposia will be on the JSPP homepage from the first of March 2009 until the conclusion of the meeting. The all symposium speakers are restricted, whom are invited by the symposium organizers.

5. Banquet and Reception

Reservations are required for banquet participants. (See the details below.)

6. Registration for Participation and Presentations

Registration is required of all attendees. Please fill out the registration through the following web site before February 17, 2009.

For paper presentations, please register your paper title together with abstract by before December 1, 2008 at the above web site. A list of sessions is attached as a PDF file.
Once more, anyone who wants to present a paper should register for attendance before or on December 1, 2008. After the deadline, applications for presentations will not be accepted.
-Deadline for the registration of a paper presentation: Monday, December 1, 2008.
-Deadline for attendance only: Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
The program of the meeting will be placed on the JSPP homepage in late Feburuary 2009.

7. Instruction for Abstracts

Abstracts must be prepared as follows. The first line should include the title. The second line should include the name(s) of the author(s) and institutional affiliation(s). When the abstract has two or more authors, please underline the name of the presenter. Please start your abstract with one blank line between the institutional affiliation and your text. The word limit for the abstract is 150 words. Figures and tables should not be placed in the text. All abstracts will be edited by the Organizing Committee, which will use the JSPP abstract form.

Please consult the registration form for the details to transfer the registration fee to the JSPP. Please send all fees in Japanese yen. (Note: The member who would like to attend both the meeting and the banquet needs to send 16,000yen when the registration is made on or before February 17)

The registration fee should be sent by International Giro postal transfer (Postal account No. 00930-7-299855) or International postal money order.

-Receipts are not issued. Once registration forms and payment have been received, the payment will not be reimbursed, even if the registration is cancelled.

-If you have an accompanying guest(s), please consult with the Organizing Committee.

9. Transportation and Accommodations

The Organizing Committee does NOT make travel arrangements. However if you need a support for staying in the place, please visit the website of Nagoya Convention & Visitors Bureau.
