PCP Publication Charge Update: Streamlined Pricing and Enhanced Member Benefits

Plant & Cell Physiology (PCP) was founded in 1959. Currently, under a publishing agreement with Oxford University Press (OUP), it has grown into one of the top hybrid journals in the field of plant science, offering both Open Access (OA) and standard publication (Non-OA, subscription-based access) of articles from around the world.

In 2023, PCP significantly revised its article publication charge structure to offer a clearer and more cost-effective pricing model. In particular, JSPP members enjoy attractive discounts and charge waivers.

Key Points of the Revision

1. OA Publication (Freely Available Online)*
  1. Non-members: The Article Processing Charge (APC) is US$3,085.
  2. JSPP members: APC is discounted by 20% (US$2,468 after discount).
  3. If the corresponding author’s institution has a Read & Publish agreement with OUP, the APC should be covered by that agreement. For more information about Read and Publish agreements, please click here.
2. Standard Publication (Non-OA, Subscription-based)*
  1. Non-members: A flat rate of US$50 per page (e.g., a 10-page article costs US$500).
  2. JSPP members: No publication charge.
  3. Invited articles: No publication charge.

*Note that in all instances, the corresponding author must be a JSPP member to qualify for any discounts or waivers; this information must be submitted to the journal before an article is accepted for publication.
