March 16-1/, 2012 Kyoto Sangyo University

Greeting

We would like to express our deepest condolences to the people who have been affected by the Tohoku earthquake on March 11. We pray for the earliest recovery from the damage.

It is our pleasure to inform you that the 53rd Annual Meeting of JSPP will be held in Kyoto city, Japan, from March 16 to 18, 2012. The venue is at the campus of Kyoto Sangyo University, which is situated on a hillside in the northern area of Kyoto city. We sincerely hope you will be able to participate.

The importance of plant science for improving our lives is now widely recognized. The JSPP has been promoting cutting-edge research on plant sciences and has encouraged the next generation of leaders in scientific areas related to plant physiology. Our annual meeting provides an ideal opportunity to share scientific ideas with many colleagues, renew friendships and make new friends. Nearly one thousand papers, including symposia and oral and poster presentations, are expected.

Kyoto is an old capital of Japan with beautiful temples, shrines and palaces throughout the city. Kyoto Sangyo University, the meeting venue, is located approximately 5 km north of the downtown area. In the downtown, there are a number of restaurants that serve traditional Japanese foods as well as Asian, Indian, and western cuisines.

We hope that many of you will join us.
